Why You Should Use A Realtor To Sell Your Home

You may be in the market to sell your property, and you may be thinking, “Why should I pay a Realtor?”  The selling of real estate can be a tedious process, and at times needs someone with strong negotiating skills.  But, there is more than negotiating that can make or break a sale.  

Your real estate agent knows how to market your property in ways that you cannot.  Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is one of those ways.  MLS gives your property exposure like no other marketing media.  The typical For Sale by Owner uses Craigslist, or other local media to promote their property.  Sometimes this method can make your property appear distressed, or look desperate, or financially strained, just to save the commission charged by real estate agents.


Security is another factor that a real estate agent can offer.  Agents pre-screen their clients, they use a showing service to book appointments, and they always accompany the buyer when showing the property.  

Agents follow the contract process all the way through closing.  This entails negotiating, overseeing property inspections, negotiating any items found during inspections, critical due dates, and of course closing. 
 

Agents are educated in ethics, agency and contracts.  They know what it takes to market a home properly to get it sold in the least amount of time possible.  In today’s hot market, if a property (under $300,000) has been on the market for over 60 days as a “For Sale by Owner”, then you need a real estate agent today!
