Home Sales In North Texas Hit Record In June With More Than 10000 Houses Sold
North Texas home sales jumped by 12 percent in June, with a record number of properties changing hands.
Real estate agents sold 10,575 preowned single-family homes last month.
Home sales in the area are now 40 percent higher than they were at the worst of the recession in mid-2010.
Sales prices also hit a new high point in June, with a median price of $220,000, according to data from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University and the North Texas Real Estate Information Systems.
June’s home prices were 12 percent higher than a year earlier.
The surge in home sales last month came despite continued tight inventory. Less than 20,000 preowned homes are listed for sale in the almost two dozen North Texas counties included in the latest data.
Home listings in June were down 12 percent from a year ago.
With pending sales up 14 percent in June, July and August are likely to see continue strong home purchase activity in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
So far in 2015, North Texas home sales are 4 percent higher than in the first six months of last year.
And median sales prices are running 12 percent year to date ahead of the same period in 2014.
