"Learners will inherit the earth, while the learned will find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.
The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn."

This is the most powerful quote to me.  It is the mantra that I strive to live my life by, sometimes at great pain to myself.  Just when I think I have learnt something, I come to a realization that I have just scratched the surface of a more powerful principle and that I have just stepped on to the bottom rung of the ladder to understanding.
The world is going through rapid change. What applies today no longer applies tomorrow. Therefore it is essential that we maintain a spirit of renewal and learning. We need to be continually learning.
The problem with education is that we tend to box off what we know and as a result we are no better off down the line than we were when we first started.  It is essential that we are continuously learning.

Be willing to learn, unlearn and relearn.   - Lars Lofstrand
